Federally Funded: This position is Federally grant-funded possibility of becoming a permanent, regular position.

Reports To: Principal

SUMMARY: The primary purpose is to provide systematic intervention to students and to improve academic achievement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned/required.

  • Model exemplary classroom practices and communicate a deep understanding of literacy, science, social studies, and math theory for the purpose of improving student achievement levels. 
  • Provide explicit, scientifically based instruction and intensive interventions to individuals and/or small groups for the purpose of improving achievement levels. 
  • Implement, support, and/or facilitate programs with the classroom teacher implementing the assigned intervention(s) with fidelity. 
  • Monitor and communicate student progress. 
  • Participate in district professional development related to job and attend meetings, training and professional development as required outside of designated schedule. 
  • Provide professional development opportunities in universal best practices and interventions for learning and behavior to school staff as needed. 
  • Facilitate effective instruction that meets the individual needs of diverse learners by consulting with staff on individualized instruction, managing classroom behavior, monitoring student progress, evaluating classroom data and adjusting intervention and instructional strategies to make content accessible to every student.
  • Assist with evaluating student achievement information in order to place students in appropriate academic or behavioral intervention and support services.
  • Collaborate with other teachers for the purpose of increasing student achievement by ensuring core instructional best practices are implemented with fidelity and staff are differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students. 
  • Serve as part of a team that assists classroom teachers in understanding and completing more in depth assessments in order to identify specific deficits/needs of a specific student or a group of students. 
  • Work with other school personnel to develop, implement and evaluate effective interventions for increasing the amount of time students are engaged in learning. 
  • Interventionists will provide leadership to classroom teachers in implementing intervention initiatives.
  • Use systematic and valid data collection procedures to measure effectiveness of their own services in order to evaluate the impact on student achievement.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

One hundred ninety (190) day position 

                       Grant Funded: This position is grant-funded with the possibility of becoming a permanent, regular position.





EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • South Carolina Teacher's Certification and endorsements as appropriate.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Five years of teaching experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective instructional leadership.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises students and assumes other supervisory duties as assigned by the building principal.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, clients, customers, and/or the general public.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram forms and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. The employee must be able to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc. The employee frequently communicates through speech.

 

The work environment may be quiet or loud.  While performing the duties of this job, employees may have a higher risk than the average person of being exposed to infection.

Grant Funded: This position is grant-funded for the next (2) years to assist with COVID-related testing and care, with the possibility of becoming a permanent, regular position.
